The Kobukan is dedicated to the teaching of Aikido in the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul area. We have been in the Twin Cities for more than 15 years. The Kobukan currently has nine instructors, headed by Kris Nelson, 3rd-degree black belt. All Kobukan Dojo instructors are certified to teach Yoshokai-style Aikido by Takashi Kushida-sensei. Read more about the Kobukan Instructors. Kobukan means the place (kan) where the martial way (bu, as in budo) is taught (ko).
Aikido Yoshokai of Minnesota (AYM), which operates Kobukan dojo, is a 501c(3) non-profit organization open to all. Everyone at the Kobukan is a volunteer. The dojo leaders and students not only train here but donate their time and skills to the maintenance and operation of the dojo. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed.
